Date:

July 27, (THEWILL) – The Senator representing Anambra South Senatorial District, Ifeanyi Ubah, has died in a London hospital three days after arriving in the city from Abuja on holiday, THEWILL can report.

The cause of death is not clear as of Saturday morning.

Ubah was a Nigerian politician, entrepreneur and businessman who, until his death, served as the CEO of Capital Oil (CCO), which he founded in 2001. He also ran a foundation which is named after himself; Ifeanyi Ubah Foundation.

He was elected Senator in 2019 on the platform of the Young Progressive Party (YPP) and reelected on the same platform in 2023.

Ubah, who defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC) earlier this year, has indicated interest in seeking the governorship of Anambra State in the 2025 election.

In 2021, he contested the 2021 Anambra governorship election and came fourth in a contest won by Chukwuma Soludo of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA).

In September 2022, Ubah escaped assassination when he was attacked by gunmen on his way to Nnewi in Enugwu-Ukwu in Anambra State. His convoy was shot at and at least five persons, including two policemen, were killed.

The deceased was married to Uchenna, a Business Administration graduate from Ahmadu Bello University in Nigeria, with whom he had five children.
