Date:

July 17, (THEWILL) – Justice James Omotosho, Presiding Judge of the Federal High Court, Abuja, has voided the impeachment of Phillip Shuaibu, as the Deputy Governor of Edo State.

Justice James Omotosho, in a judgement, on Wednesday, ordered his immediate reinstatement to office.

The Edo State House of Assembly had on April 8, impeached Shaibu as Deputy governor over alleged disclosure of government secrets.

Declaring the impeachment as null and void, Justice Omotosho held that the allegation on which the House of Assembly based the impeachment proceedings was untenable in law and did not constitute gross misconduct.

The judge ordered the IGP to provide him with needed security to enable him to resume office and perform the functions of the office until the end of his tenure.
