Bolaji Kuku Scores Major Point With Duport Modular Refinery

During the week, Duport Midstream Company Limited, owners of Duport Modular Refinery finally received its first crude feedstock for production. This is happening two years after it was initially scheduled to commence operations.

The 10,000 projected barrels per day (bpd) modular refinery started production in its plant located at Ologbo community in the Ikpoba Okha Local Government Area of Edo state and is operated by the Edo Refinery and Petrochemical Company (ERPC) Limited.

The modular refinery can produce 50% of diesel at 500,000 litres, 25% of Naphtha at 300,000 litres and 20% of Low Pour Fuel Oil (LPFO) at 200,000 litres. But what is more important is that the chairman of Duport Midstream Company Limited is Bolaji Kuku, one of the children of the late Moshood Abiola Kashimawo Abiola with his first wife, Simbiat.

That she is successful by miles cannot be over emphasized. Her name is hardly mentioned in the media, neither is her face a popular one but to those who know who she is, she is a big fish in the corporate world.

She is a renowned entrepreneur with over 21 years of experience in several industries including agro-allied, retail, FMCG and education sectors. She holds a Law degree from Leicester University in the UK and was called to the Nigerian Bar in 1992. She started her law career in Nigeria, working at Chris Ogunbanjo & Co. She serves as Non-Executive Director of Management Transformation Limited and is the Chairman and owner of Ocean drive Foods Limited, owners of popular eateries in major cities in Nigeria.

Duport Midstream Company Limited (DMCL), which is chairman of, was the first energy park in Nigeria. Besides operating a 10,000 BPD modular refinery, it has capacity to produce 60million SCF gas processing plant, 10 million SCF compressed natural gas (CNG) plant, 30,000 MT refined product terminal and a 20MW embedded power plant over a five-year period.

Bolaji who is the direct younger sister of Kola Abiola is married to Femi Kuku, the first son of late Ogbeni Oja of Ijebuland, Chief Adebayo Kuku, a onetime Vice Chairman of Mobil Producing Nigeria Unlimited and the President of Nigerian Stock Exchange.
