August 23, (THEWILL) – At least four persons were killed when suspected Boko Haram terrorists attacked farmers on their farmlands in Kirawa, a border town in the Gwoza Local Government Area of Borno State.
The incident, which occurred between 12 and 1pm on Thursday, has caused tension in the community with some farmers already abandoning their farmland.
The Councillor of Kirawa Jimini Ward, who is also the Speaker of Gwoza LGA, Bukar Aji, confirmed the incident.
Aji solicited the support of the security operatives in providing adequate security to the farming community to enable them to sustain their means of livelihood.
Also, the Chairman of Kirawa Development Association, Yakubu Ali, who spoke to our correspondent, said the attack on farmers will further compound the challenges faced by the communities that are rebuilding after years of insurgency.
