SAN FRANCISCO, November 19, (THEWILL) – The Nigerian Army Thursday faulted a media report which insinuated that over 100 soldiers were recently lost to Boko Haram when the insurgents struck  in Gulumba, Bama Local Government Area of Borno State.

Debunking the report at a media briefing in Maiduguri, the Borno State capital, the Theatre Commander of Operation Lafiya Dole, Major General Yusha’u Abubakar, said there was no truth in the report.

Describing  the report as  “rumour and unofficial,” Abubakar said it is “ incredible, unreliable, baseless and unfounded as no officer has reported such matter to me or any senior military officer yet as far as I am concerned and to the best of my knowledge.”

The army spokesman however  admitted that there was a heavy gun duel between the troops and the insurgents in Gulumba, saying the casualty figure is not yet known by him.
