February 04, (THEWILL) – The national grid has collapsed again, leaving many Nigerians in darkness, with most of the country without electricity.
The system is operated by the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) from Osogbo, Osun State.
Some of the nation’s Distribution Companies confirmed that the grid collapsed at about 11:51 AM on Sunday, reducing the system’s capacity from 2,407 megawatts to a mere 31MW by noon and reaching zero by 1 PM.
Kaduna Electric confirmed that the loss of bulk power supply left Kaduna, Sokoto, Zamfara, and Kebbi states in darkness.
According to the DiSco, all 20 power plants, except Ibom Power with 31 megawatts, were offline by 11:51 AM.
