BIPC To Generate 5,000 Employment Jobs In Benue – MD

October 21, (THEWILL) – The Managing Director of Benue Investment and Property Company Limited (BIPC), Dr Raymond Asemakaha, has said that about five thousand jobs will be generated by the company between now and December 2024.

He disclosed that already, 100 direct and 174 indirect jobs have been generated by the company in the state out of the 1.7 million unemployed graduates.

Fielding questions from newsmen after inspection of the Polythene and Bread Bakery extension Unit, in Makurdi on Monday, Dr Asemakaha explained that high demand of BIPC bread has called for extension of services.

“Our intention is to expand our bread production to all the 23 local Government Council areas, rather than concentration in Makurdi, to reduce travelling risk, among others.”

He assured that in every quarter, BIPC will deliver a new project aimed at arresting unemployment rate in the state, saying the take off of the Polythene factory will also, go a long way in saving money on printing of nylon, label among others to the tune of N50 million.

According to him, business people will be coming to Benue to buy and do other printing jobs during which internally generated revenue of the state will be boosted.

On funding of ongoing projects, the Managing Director stated that N146 million was recovered from defaulters who were into BIPC property and N300 million came from sales of bread.

“BIPC at the moment is heading towards Global market. Let me commend governor Hyacinth Alia for the support and funding that make us stand tall”, he stated.

He challenged Benue people to embrace farming to earn a living, assuring that the inauguration of polythene bag factory will be done in two weeks.
