Betty Akeredolu Leaves Lasting Legacy For Late Husband

June 16, (THEWILL)- Less than six months after the death of her husband, Betty, the widow of Rotimi Akeredolu, the late former governor of Ondo State has decided to immortalise the memory of her late husband who died as a sitting governor.

In recognition of his sterling contributions to the legal profession and Nigerian society and in appreciation of his legacy of excellence and service to mankind, she has decided to set up a scholarship fund in his memory for deserving law students.

The Oluwarotimi Akeredolu Scholarship Fund for Lawyers will be awarded annually to aspiring lawyers who have been admitted to the Nigerian Law School and who demonstrate academic merit, leadership potential, and financial need. It’s her own way of expressing gratitude to the Nigerian Bar Association, especially the Ibadan branch, for honouring the patriarch of the Akeredolu family with hopes that it will inspire and empower the next generation of lawyers who will uphold the values and principles that Aketi embodied. Akeredolu died on December 27 of leukaemia and prostate cancer.
