February 27, (THEWILL) – A youth leader in Benue state, Mr. Emmanuel Odiba Achigbe has expressed disgust over low patronage of youths by the governor Samuel Ortom administration since coming into power in 2015.

Speaking in Makurdi on Saturday, Mr Achigbe noted that in theory, youths are leaders of tomorrow but not in practical terms.

“His Excellency sir, I am specifically not speaking for myself but for the entire Benue youths. We have observed and discovered that your administration has given the women 35 to 40 percent chance to participate in active politics both at the state and local government levels.”

“We are truly proud of that and not against it. But our worries and great concern is how and why we the youths who are the supposed leaders of tomorrow have zero percentage in your government?.”

“His Excellency sir, we the youths have exercise more than enough patience but it seems that our case is like the coming of Jesus.”

According to him, there was a time government organised a ‘Benue State Youths Summit’, however, “what we saw was ridiculous; ridiculous to the fact that, the youngest person invited for the summit was above 52 years old.”

The youth leader pointed out that, when Nigerian youths felt that they were misled and misrepresented, they brought about ‘END SARS’ protest.

“I don’t know if Benue youths might bring ‘End Politicians’ who are not youths friendly.” He asked.
