Benue Residents Condemn Acts Of Jungle Justice

February 23, (THEWILL) – As the World mark the day of social justice, some stakeholders in Benue state, have condemned the act of Jungle Justice as a solution for resolving problems in the society.

The Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Barr Michael Gusah, stated that no matter the amount of anger resulting to violence, which is contrary to law are not solutions to the issue.

While advising people of the state to be law abiding, Gusah noted that the governor, Samuel Ortom’s administration will continue to create a conducive atmosphere for stakeholders in the justice sector to operate and ensure quick dispensation of justice in the state.

The Commissioner disclosed that the present administration has done a lot to ensure that people have access to justice as well as provision of security of lives and property.

“Governor Ortom has assented to more than 27 laws including open grazing prohibition and ranches establishment law 2017.”

Speaking, a Makurdi based legal practitioner, Barr. Emmanuel Ominyi, also condemned acts of jungle justice by resulting to self help; pointing out that if anyone was aggrieved over a matter, he/she should report to security agents or seek redress in a court of law.
