Benue Police Rescue Stolen Four-Year-Old Child, Arrest Suspects

September 05, (THEWILL) – The Benue State Police Command has rescued a four-year-old child stolen in the Naka area of the State and arrested two suspected traffickers in Delta State.

It was gathered that when a report was received at Naka Police Division that one Atti Ngohide Winifred, a 4-year-old child, was missing, a team of police officers from the Command were deployed for investigation.

The Command’s Police Public Relations Officer, SP Sewuese Anene, who confirmed the incident, pointed out that during the investigation, one Sylvester Tior, who was last seen with strangers in the neighbourhood around the children’s playground, was arrested.

According to her, during interrogation, the said Sylvester revealed that he met two strange women while he was on transit from Onitsha to Benue and assisted them in arranging an affordable hotel for them to spend the night but they left the area without informing him.

The PPRO said further investigations led the investigating team to Onitsha-Ugbo, Aniocha North Local Government Area of Delta State, where two suspects: Constance Nkechinyere Nnamdi and Chinenye Okafor, were arrested.

According to her, the suspects led the police to Eke-Nkpor in Anambra State where the child was eventually recovered, adding that investigation is ongoing to arrest other suspects involved in the case.
