August 09, (THEWILL) – The Head of the Department of Works, Makurdi Local Government Area of Benue State, Mr. Alex Chubu, has pledged to ensure effective service delivery to the various communities in the LGA.
Chubu, who stated this when he played host to his colleagues from Vandeikya Local Government Council who paid him a solidarity visit in Makurdi on Wednesday, noted that he was transferred from Vandeikya a couple of years ago, and was later appointed Head, Department of Works.
He said the solidarity visit would challenge him to do his best to transform Makurdi Local Government Area, which houses the Benue State capital.
“I won’t take your visit for granted having embarked on a long journey to Makurdi and for conceiving the idea in the first place. I was transferred from Vandeikya for a very long time but you people still hold me in mind. I’m very grateful,” he said.
Chubu also commended the present administration for allowing the third tier of government in the state to function optimally.
Earlier, the leader of the delegation, Mr. Emmanuel Vembe, explained that the visit was in solidarity with Chubu over his elevation to the position of Head, Department of Works in the local government administration.
Vembe, who is the Desk Officer of MDGs and SDGs as well as Principal Technical Officer in Vandeikya Local Government Area, noted that Chubu was dedicated to duty and friendly when he served in the council, hence the visit to encourage him to do more.
“The Works and Housing Department from Vandeikya Council’s visit is to identify and decorate him as a mark of elevation in his life and this is the first of its kind in the local government,” he stated.
They prayed to God to bless Chubu with sound health and strength to uplift the Works Department and Makurdi Local Government Area as a whole to a higher height.
