July 23, (THEWILL) – The Benue State House of Assembly has summoned the Executive Vice chairman of Lobi Stars Football Club and the entire management, to appear before it to give the financial account and expenditure for the past year.

The resolution was reached at the plenary session in Makurdi on Tuesday, when a member representing Konshisha Constituency, Rt. Hon. Cephas Dyako, moved a motion.

According to the lawmaker, the House Committee on Sports, during the oversight function had extended several invitations to Mr Iorfa but consistently declined his cooperation.

Honourable Dyako stated that the activities of Lobi Stars are shrouded in secrecy, saying the 6th position of the club in the concluded 2023/2024 premier league year is a cause to worry about.

“If this House does not intervene, Lobi Stars will go into relegation with time. Government invested heavily in the club and is expecting interest from it.”

Dyako informed his colleagues that, Iorfa’s refusal to appear and clear the concerns of the public has necessitated his decision to move the motion for him to appear on the floor.

Seconding the motion, the member, representing Katsina-Ala West Constituency, Hon. Peter Ipusu, noted that Iorfa is a core professional footballer and has no basis to fail in managing Lobi Stars club.

He expressed worry that Lobi Stars was on top of the league in the beginning but dwindled to the 6th position at the end of the day.

Ipusu, therefore, begged the Speaker and entire members to summon Iorfa and the management of the club to explain issues surrounding the club’s performance.

Contributing, a member representing Ohimini State Constituency, Hon. Isaac Ochekliye, who aligned himself with the position of Honorable Ipusu, lamented what is happening to the club despite a good football professional of Iorfa’s standing.

In a voice vote, members unanimously resolved that Iorfa and the entire management of the club should appear to the committee which is to report back on the floor within one week.

A five-man committee was, therefore, set up with Matthew Damkor as Chairman and Cephas Dyako as the Manager among others.

The Speaker, Hyacith Dajo, who presided over the plenary, charged the committee to report back to the House next week on Tuesday.
