Benue Assembly Offers Employment To Deceased Member’s Sons, Constitutes C’ttee To Assist Others

August 22, (THEWILL) – Benue State House of Assembly has offered casual employment to two sons of a deceased member, late George Uchi and constituted a committee to suggest possible ways to assist former members that are alive.

The five-man committee is headed by the Majority Leader, Hon. Saater Tiseer, who is to serve as it chairman.

The Speaker Rt Hon. Hyacinth Aondona Dajoh, disclosed this on Thursday, during a valedictory session in honour of late George Uchi and urged members of the committee to present their report to the house as soon as possible.

He encouraged serving members of the House to always try to assist former members, saying it is better to give the living a befitting assistance than giving them a befitting burial to the dead.

The speaker also directed the Clerk of the House, Mr Bernard Nule, to immediately give two children of the deceased a casual appointment pending when employment would be carried out in the assembly.

He sympathised with the family members over the loss, urging them not to give up in life following the death of their father, husband.

The Majority Leader, Hon. Saater Tiseer, on his part, described the late Uchi as a honest and sincere man when he was alive, noting that his death is an unfortunate incident.

Speaking on behalf of other lawmakers from Benue North East, Hon. Thomas Dugeri, Mr Terwase Uchi for Benue North West and Mr Kennedy Angbo, for Benue South, all described late Uchi as a compassionate leader and voice for the voiceless and condoled the family.

Clerk of the House, Mr Bernard Nule, said Uchi was a committed legislators and would be missed, while the former Speaker, Mr Terseer Tsumba maintained that Uchi was a dedicated lawmaker and urged family members to take solace in the fact that he lived a fulfilled life.

On his part, the chairman, Forum of former legislators, Benue State House of assembly, Dr Sylvester Atachin, lamented incessant death among members.

Others members of the committee are Hon. William Ortyom, Anthony Agom, Timothy Jabo, Dr Sylvester Atachin and Secretary Assembly Service Commission.

Younger brother of the deceased, Mr Theodore Iordye, expressed appreciation to members of the 10th Assembly for the honour bestowed on their father and the assistance to the family.

Late George Uchi will be buried at his home town at Usar in Kwande Local Government Area in Benue State on Saturday.
