April 20, (THEWILL) – Bayern Munich’s Sports Director, Hasan Salihamidzic, has remained non-committal on the potential signing of Nigerian striker, Victor Osimhen, from Italian club Napoli.
Osimhen has been the subject of transfer speculation to the German champions in recent weeks. Bayern Munich is in dire need of a reliable striker after the departure of Robert Lewandowski last summer. They have tried using a false nine and Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting, but the results have not been encouraging.
The absence of a top striker was felt in their exit from the UEFA Champions League on Wednesday, and they risk losing their Bundesliga title if they do not improve their performance.
Speaking after their 1-1 draw against Manchester City on Wednesday, Salihamidzic said: “I will not discuss names now. However, we will see what the coach has in mind, who is involved, what are the financial implications, then we can see the possibilities.”
Napoli is reportedly seeking €120 million for Osimhen, who has scored 26 goals in 31 games this season, making it a big financial decision for the German side known for being frugal.
