April 20, (THEWILL)- Bayern Munich produced a ruthless display to thrash Union Berlin 5-1 as they put their disappointing end to this Bundesliga campaign behind them. Thomas Muller’s second-half brace capped a superb performance from the Bavarian giants against their struggling opponents.

The visitors took the lead through Leon Goretzka’s thunderous strike off the bar after 29 minutes. Harry Kane’s sublime free-kick doubled the advantage before the break. Union Berlin had no answer as Bayern turned on the style.

Emerging star Mathys Tel provided two assists, setting up Muller’s first and then netting himself as Bayern went for the jugular. Goretzka turned provider for Muller’s second headed goal in a devastating 13-minute spell. Union pulled one back late on through Yorbe Vertessen but remained just three points above the relegation play-off place.

Bayern’s seventh win in 10 games against Union simply piles up misery on the capital club who suffered consecutive home defeats for the first time since November 2023.
