October 28, (THEWILL) – The Secretary to the Bayelsa State Government (SSG), Alabo Gideon Ekeuwei, was on Tuesday, October 26, 2023, honoured as an Honorary Fellow of the Nigerian Institute of Town Planners, the most prestigious investiture by the Institute.
The event, which took place at the Mariam Babangida International Conference Centre, Asaba, was witnessed by the national leadership of the Nigerian Institute of Town Planners during the Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the Institute.
An obviously elated Alabo Ekeuwei expressed gratitude to God for the honour bestowed on him by the Institute.
He said he was dedicating the honour to God Almighty for His love and kindness towards his family and himself.
According to the SSG, “I just have to thank God for the honour bestowed on me, as it is the love and likeness of God upon me and my family.
“I dedicate this honour to God Almighty and the Prosperity Government of Bayelsa State, led by Senator Douye Diri, who afforded me the opportunity to serve the state.”
It will be recalled that before the elevation of Alabo Gideon Ekeuwei to the position of Secretary to the Bayelsa State Government, he was the Executive Chairman, Bayelsa State Physical Planning and Development Board, where he performed creditably well, which led to the honour by the National leadership of the Nigerian Institute of Town Planners.
During his stint at the Physical Planning and Development Board, he mid-wifed the Physical Planning and Development Summit that was the talk of the town.
This also led to the declaration and subsequent proclamation of the Glory Drive as a Development Planning Area by Governor Douye Diri, as well as the securing of a befitting office accommodation and the development of a blue print for the Board, amongst others.
During the administration of the Oath, the national President of the Nigerian Institute of Town Planners, Tpl Nathaniel Atebije, noted that Alabo Gideon Ekeuwei was elected as a member of the Institute amongst the lot that were recommended.
The high point of the ceremony was the decoration of Alabo Ekeuwei with the Institute’s Muffler.
