Bayelsa Govt Intervenes In Chieftaincy Feud In Ammassoma, Sues For Peace

September 16, (THEWILL) – The Bayelsa State Government has intervened in the Chieftaincy feud between factions in the Ammassoma community of Southern Ijaw Local Government Area.

The Bayelsa Government through the Commissioner for Community Developments, Hon. Alfred Watson Belemote, called for peace and unity in the community.

The Commissioner made this plea in a meeting with factions of the Amassoma community to foster peace and birth a lasting solution in resolving the roaring Kingship crisis rocking the community.

The meeting, which took place at the Deputy Governor’s Conference Hall, Government House, Yenagoa, lasted for two days and was attended by Mr Ebimieboseigha Wilson, HR to the Deputy Governor, the different factional leaders, amongst other stakeholders.

There has been a power tussle for the kingship position bedevilling the community of Amassoma in Southern Ijaw LGA of Bayelsa State, which has resulted in factions in their bid to be the rightful ruler(s) of the community.

In a bid to curb the impending doom and curtail the emanating catastrophe, the Commissioner and Ministry of Community Development of Bayelsa State, sued for peace to prevail and for the round table to be the rightful place for dialogue in finding a resolution that will bring about lasting solution to the crisis in turn development.

He said that any society and government built on rancour, division and menace will not last the test of time and will not bring about any meaningful development.

Hon. Alfred Watson Belemote called for all to put selfish interests aside and bring selflessness to bear as the kingship stool is for the service of the people and humanity at large.

The Commissioner also took the time to thank the Executive Governor of Bayelsa State, His Excellency, Sen. Douye Diri and his workaholic Deputy Governor, His Excellency, Sen. Lawrence Ewrudjakpor, for their swift action in bringing about peace in the communities and the state at large anytime such arises.

He said that the governor and his deputy, are peace-loving people and it’s visible with the level of peace the state enjoys, work assiduously together in line with the Prosperity Government’s agenda in bringing progress and development to the communities and state at large.
