July 19, (THEWILL) – Former Chief Whip in the Bayelsa State House of Assembly, Hon. Jonathan R. Obuebite PhD, has congratulated Senator Douye Diri, governor of Bayelsa State and his deputy, Senator Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo, on their victory at the court of appeal.

The Court of Appeal, sitting in Abuja, the federal capital territory, had dismissed an appeal filed by Chief Timipre Sylva, candidate of the All Progressive Congress (APC), challenging Diri’s victory in the November 2023 governorship election.

Hon. Obuebite, in a congratulatory message, emphasised the need for unity and cooperation among all candidates for the betterment of Bayelsa State.

Dr Obuebite stated that the judgement reflects the overwhelming choice of the people and signifies a new chapter in the state’s progress and development.

“All political contestants need to come together in the spirit of unity for the common good and growth of Bayelsa State. Once again, I join in celebrating the success of Governor Douye Diri and Deputy Governor Lawrence, as they continue to lead Bayelsa State towards progress and prosperity.”
