July 04, (THEWILL) – Franck Kessie, who is now a free agent, has been officially announced as a Barcelona player after agreeing to a deal that extends through 2026.
Kessie recently ended a five-season stay with Milan on a positive note, netting six league goals in 31 appearances to help the team win its first Scudetto in over a decade.
Kessie praised Milan and their supporters in a statement at the end of May, saying: “These have been five very important years where I really committed to the project. I am very happy for the city, the club, my fans, the coach, for me and my whole family.
It is the last month of my contract here, but in these five years we were able to get back into the Champions League and win the Scudetto.
I did what I was brought in for and I think this is the best way to say goodbye.”
Kessie was widely anticipated to join Barca this summer after his contract at San Siro expired and that has come to pass with the confirmation from the Catalan side of the success of the transfer.
The Ivorian’s contract with Barcelona has a €500 million release clause, and Barcelona will introduce Kessie on July 6th.
