Aviation Unions Harp On Automation, To Hold Award Night March

February 09, (THEWILL) – Four unions in the ministry of aviation, under the aegis of Joint Consultative and Negotiating Council (JCNC), will be x-raying the importance of automation of all the systems in the aviation industry as it affects positive personnel performance.

The chairman of JCNC, Comrade Hector Nnadi in a chat with newsmen Wednesday, explained that with the level of technology around the globe, the aviation sector cannot afford to be left behind in the quest to reposition itself with adequate automation of all points.

Nnadi said, the gains of an automated system in the aviation industry cannot be undermined as the issue of digitalisation remained a global thing.

He noted that the Federal Ministry of Communication has adopted it as their roadmap, adding that there is no industry that has not gone digital now.

He noted that automation in form of digitalisation was very paramount in the aviation sector, so as to compliment the work of personnel.

Nnadi, explained that full automated aviation systems will take adequate care of safety and security systems in the aviation sector especially these days when people gain access to the restricted areas at the airports without hassles.

“In these days when people gain access to the areas that are restricted in the airport without much hassles, if there is access control which forms part of personnel automation, some of those things will be curbed.”

Nnadi applauded that the Minister of Aviation, Senator Hadi Sirika on his stand on Emirates airlines as regard the issue of Bilateral Air Services Agreement (BASA).

On his assessment of the aviation industry and the gradual recovery after Covid-19, the chairman said the industry was picking up with government and also playing significant role with the available resources. He however, pointed out that such efforts are not enough, when compared to what was obtained outside.

Meanwhile, Comrade Nnadi has released details of the 9th edition of Aviation Workers Week and Awards Night.

According to Nnadi, the awards, which will take place at the Shehu Musa Ya’Adua Centre on 3rd of March 2022, organised by the JCNC, has its theme as “The Gains of An Automated Personnel Management System In The Aviation Sector.”

He explained that as an annual programme, the event started over nine years ago with the aim of gathering aviators across the country to deliberate on burning issues affecting the industry.
