Aubameyang Nominated For La Liga Player Of The Month

March 02, (THEWILL) – Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has made a good start in La Liga with Barcelona, after joining on a free transfer from Arsenal in January and it is reaping dividends for the player and the club.

The Gabonese captain had to wait until February to make his debut, but it was well worth the wait after the brilliant manner with which he has taken to life in the Spanish top flight.

Aubameyang has gone on to score five goals in six games for his new club in all competitions and appears to be loving life at the Camp Nou.

With four of those goals coming in La Liga, Aubameyang has therefore been nominated for the league’s February Player of the Month award. Nabil Fekir, Pau Torres, Thibaut Courtois, Vedat Muriqi, Pere Milla, and Dani Vivian are up against Auba for the award.

Only Memphis Depay has scored more goals for the Catalan giants in the 2021/2022 campaign than the Gabonese and he is tied with Luuk de Jong on five goals. The 32-year-old has already made history during his brief stint with Barcelona, scoring a hat-trick against Valencia.

Aubameyang will look to add to his tally at Elche on Sunday. Elche will begin the weekend in 13th place in the table, having been thrashed 3-0 by bottom club Levante in La Liga last time out.
