June 3, (THEWILL)- The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) has directed all members nationwide, to join other Nigerian workers, to fully participate in the indefinite industrial action declared by organised labour over minimum wage and tariff hike.

ASUU in a letter addressed to all the branch chairpersons and zone coordinators nationwide, instructed the branch leadership in various universities to mobilise members under their watch for compliance.

In the letter dated June 2, 2024, and signed by its President, Prof Emmanuel Osodeke, ASUU said the organised labour has declared indefinite strike action beginning from Monday, 3rd June, 2024 over failure of government to conclude renegotiation of minimum wage for Nigerian workers and reversal of hike in electricity tariff.

“Our branches are hereby enjoined to join in the strike action as affiliate members of congress.

“Consequently, branch chairpersons are to mobilise all members to participate in the strike action”, ASUU directed.
