March 12, (THEWILL) – West Ham were unable to take advantage of their dominance in a 1-1 draw with Aston Villa, leaving them with more dropped points at home.
Although they have climbed out of the relegation zone on goal difference, it was yet another disappointing day for David Moyes’ side as they failed to secure a much-needed win. Ollie Watkins and Said Benrahma scored the goals, with the latter converting from the penalty spot after a challenge from Leon Bailey on Lucas Paqueta.
This match followed West Ham’s failure to build on their 4-0 victory over Nottingham Forest, as they lost to Brighton by the same scoreline a week later. Meanwhile, Aston Villa bounced back from a run of three defeats by winning consecutive games against Everton and Crystal Palace.

Despite a positive second-half display, West Ham were unable to find the elusive opening they needed to secure the win. Benrahma and Bowen were the main driving forces, with the former forcing goalkeeper, Emi Martinez, to tip a powerful shot over the crossbar.
Their next game is on Thursday against Larnaca in the Europa Conference League, while Aston Villa will host Bournemouth in the EPL on Saturday.
