April 03, (THEWILL) – ASEC Mimosas notched a decisive victory in their final group match of the TotalEnergies Confederation Cup campaign on Sunday, defeating Rivers United 1-0 in Abidjan.

Tresor Mofosse’s strike just two minutes into the match proved to be enough for ASEC, who dominated from the start. Despite Rivers United’s efforts to equalise, the Ivorian club held on to their lead and secured the top spot in their group.

Both teams had already secured their places in the quarter-finals before this final group match and played more for superiority. The Ivorian club took the top of Group B and overtook their Nigerian opponents, who had led the group before the encounter. With this victory, ASEC finished the group phase in style with 13 points, three points ahead of second-placed Rivers United.
