BEVERLY HILLS, October 24, (THEWILL) – The growing international support for Nigerian youths protesting against police brutality have seen celebrities, notable figures and sports celebrities and institutions adding their voices to the cause and assuring the protesters of their solidarity at such trying times.
Among those who have done so recently include voices from North London, specifically the English Premier League side, Arsenal FC. The management of the Gunners club put out a statement on Twitter, expressly aligning with those in pain especially after the armed response of security operatives on Tuesday, October 20.
The statement, in all caps, read:
“TO OUR NIGERIAN FANS.
WE SEE YOU. WE HEAR YOU. WE FEEL YOU.
WE HAVE READ OUR REPLIES.
WE HAVE SEEN THE FOOTAGE.
WE CANNOT IMAGINE THE PAIN.
OUR THOUGHTS ARE WITH EVERYONE IN NIGERIA.
STAY STRONG. STAY SAFE.
@Arsenal
Joining in the global support from the North London club was their talismanic Gabonese striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang. The talented goal-poacher, who displayed the large tattoo of Africa on his back in his tweet, bemoaned the bloodletting across the African continent specifically mentioning Nigeria, the Congo and Ivory Coast.
“Africa you are my inspiration, my identity, my family, my home!! That’s why I carry you on my back! I am devastated and heartbroken to see what’s going on in Nigeria, Congo, Ivory Coast, so many places.. This continent deserves better – deserves justice!!”

In the second part of the two-thread tweet, he used the trending hashtag for the Nigerian Movement #ENDSARS whilst calling for peace in his show of solidarity with his African brothers and sisters.
“You are not alone my brothers and sisters, the world is witness! I’m sending strength and love to everyone protesting and standing for peace – you do not stand alone
#EndPoliceBrutality #PeaceFirst
#Africa #endSARS!”
