BEVERLY HILLS, September 27, (THEWILL) – The candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Gboyega Oyetola looks set to clinch the Osun governorship poll following his solid performance at Thursday’s rerun in some parts of the state.

Oyetola entered the race with a deficit of about 350 votes with his main challenger, Senator Ademola Adeleke of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, looking set to cause an upset.

However in Thursday’s election, Oyetola won the two polling units in Ile-Ife.

In Ife South, Oyetola polled 283 votes, while the PDP candidate, Senator Ademola Adeleke polled 15 votes. In Ife North (Unit 2), Oyetola polled 126 votes, while Adeleke polled 2 votes.

In Ward 5 Unit 7 at Alekuwodo in Osogbo, Oyetola polled 299 votes, while Adeleke polled 165 votes.

In Orolu LGA Ward 9, Unit 3 polling booth, Adeleke polled 64 votes, while Oyetola got 41 votes.

However, the APC candidate beat him by wide margin in Orolu ward 8, unit 4. He polled 198 votes, while Adeleke polled 15 votes.

Meanwhile the PDP and its candidate have rejected the results from the election alleging fraud.

“lt is regrettable that election in 7 polling units could not be freely and fairly concluded by the Independent National Electoral commission.

“We reject any returns of results from this sham and call on the INEC authorities in Abuja to direct that the so called supplementary election result collation be put on hold now.

“We equally invite leaders of thought in Nigeria and the International community to rise up now to rescue Nigeria’s democracy from being ruined,” the Osun PDP said in a statement.
