The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Nigeria says there are efforts being made by the present administration to disqualify its presidential candidate, General Muhamadu Buhari, from contesting in Saturday’s polls.

In a statement released in Abuja on Tuesday, the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Lai Mohammed, warned of consequences of the suit to be ruled on by the Federal High Court in Abuja.

Mr Mohammed said: “Anyone who will disqualify a presidential candidate on the eve of an election can only have one and only one purpose for that; to trigger chaos and pandemonium across the country”.

He speculated that the planned disqualification of General Buhari could have been the reason for the deployment of troops across the country to quell possible protests and create confusion.

The APC spokesman said those who initiated General Buhari’s disqualification would take advantage of the situation to reschedule the elections again.

He prayed that good reason would prevail to prevent the nation from impending political crisis.

The Federal High Court has ruled that all pending applications and the originating summons be taken together in the suit challenging the eligibility of the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential candidate, Muhammadu Buhari, in the forthcoming March 28 presidential election.

The presiding judge, Justice Adeniyi Ademola, fixed March 25 to rule on the application for joinder.‎‎
