BEVERLY HILLS, October 02, (THEWILL) – Idiat Adebule, Deputy Governor of Lagos, has abandoned her boss, Akinwunmi Ambode, Governor of Lagos state, for Babajide Sanwo-Olu, the rival of the governor.
Speaking at ward A and D in Iba local council development area where she participated in the governorship primary of the APC, she announced her endorsement of the candidate chosen by the party.
“The party has chosen a man and it is that man that I will support and follow,”she said.
Sanwo-Olu enjoys the support of key members of the party in the state, including Bola Tinubu, a national leader of the APC.
Members of the APC have turned out in their numbers at voting centres and voting has begun in some areas following acreditation.
The primaries comes a day after the National Working Committee (NWC) of the party announced its postponement for the third time.
This postponement is connected with the disagreement on who should become the APC flag bearer in the 2019 general elections.
Meanwhile, Sanwo-Olu, defeated Ambode at ward c, Alausa, Ikeja, on Tuesday.
Olanrewaju Yahaya, the electoral officer in charge of the ward, announced that Sanwo-Olu polled 960 votes ahead of the governor who secured just four votes.
Alausa is the seat of power in the state as the governor’s office, state assembly and state secretariat are all there.
In Agbado/Oke-Odo local council development area, Sanwo-Olu trounced Ambode. While he polled 13,380, the governor had 115 votes.
