June 21, (THEWILL) – The immediate past Inspector General of Police, Usman Alkali Baba, on Wednesday, officially handed over to the new acting Police boss, Kayode Egbetokun, as the 22nd IGP.
The official handing-over ceremony, scheduled for 11 am on Tuesday, was postponed till Wednesday.
Baba handed over around noon on Wednesday, during a Handing/Taking-Over Ceremony of the Inspector-General of Police at the Louis Edet House, Force Headquarters, Abuja.
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu appointed Egbetokun as Acting IGP on Monday. He was decorated on Tuesday, by Vice-President, Kashim Shettima, at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
Born 4th of September, 1964, IGP Kayode Egbetokun was the Deputy Inspector-General of Police, Force Criminal Investigation Department, Force Headquarters, Abuja, before his appointment as Acting Inspector General of Police.
He enlisted into the Police Force as a Cadet ASP (Course 16) on March 3, 1990.
