Akpoguma Signs Long-Term Agreement With Hoffenheim

June 21, (THEWILL) – Bundesliga club, TSG Hoffenheim, have announced through an official statement on their website that Kevin Akpoguma has committed to a new contract.

The central defender has inked a deal that will see him remain with Hoffenheim until June 30, 2026. Akpoguma’s previous agreement with the club would have expired by the end of the 2023/2024 season if he had not signed a new contract. Akpoguma, who joined Hoffenheim ten years ago from Karlsruhe, solidified his position as a regular first-team player after loan spells at Fortuna Düsseldorf and Hannover.

In the last Bundesliga season, the Neustadt an der Weinstrasse native appeared in 28 matches, marking his highest tally in a single top-flight German football season. Additionally, Akpoguma has represented Nigeria in eight international matches, including the recent TotalEnergies Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Sierra Leone.

Expressing his commitment to the club, Akpoguma stated: “I love this club and there was no question for me that I would like to play football here in the future. This is my club, TSG is extremely close to my heart. Even in times that were difficult for me personally, those responsible always believed in me. I’ve developed a close bond with TSG and the entire region and I want to give something back by extending my contract. Anyone who knows me knows that I will always give my all for this club.”

Throughout his time at Hoffenheim, Akpoguma has accumulated 133 appearances, netting four goals and providing six assists. The new contract signifies his continued dedication to the club and his aspiration to contribute further to its success.
