January 20, (THEWILL) – Nigeria’s three-time Commonwealth Games wrestling gold medallist, Odunayo Adekuoroye, has announced that she has joined the coaching staff at Wayland Baptist University in the United States.

The 29-year-old freestyle wrestler has won gold in the 53-kilogram and 57-kilogram categories at the 2014 and 2018 Commonwealth Games respectively, as well as a silver in the 55-kilogram category at the 2017 World Wrestling Championships.

In the Facebook post through which she made the announcement, Adekuoroye said that the opportunity would help her achieve her goal of winning an Olympic medal at the 2024 Games in Paris.

She also mentioned that the occasion gave her an opportunity to pass on her skills, experience and expertise to the next generation of freestyle wrestlers, who will pass through her hands at the University.
