SAN FRANCISCO, January 25, (THEWILL) – President Donald Trump on has signed two executive orders to order the construction of a U.S.-Mexican border wall.
Trump also signed an executive order that could slash funding for so-called “sanctuary cities”, and reinstated the “secure communities” program, which encourages broader cooperation between local law enforcement and federal immigration agencies.
Trump is expected to sign an executive order that would block the entry of refugees from war-torn Syria and suspend the entry of any immigrants from Muslim-majority Middle Eastern and African countries Syria, Sudan, Somalia, Iraq, Iran, Libya and Yemen while permanent rules are studied.
His directives on Wednesday signalled a tough action toward the roughly 11 million illegal immigrants already in the United States, most from Latin America, whom he already has threatened to deport.
The directives ordered the construction of a multibillion-dollar wall along the roughly 2,000-mile (3,200-km) U.S.-Mexico border, moved to strip federal funding from “sanctuary” states and cities that harbour illegal immigrants, and expanded the force of American immigration agents.
“We are going to restore the rule of law in the United States,” Trump told an audience that included relatives of people killed by illegal immigrants at the Department of Homeland Security after signing two executive orders.
“Beginning today, the United States of America gets back control of its borders, gets back its borders.
“A nation without borders is not a nation.
“I just signed two executive orders that will save thousands of lives, millions of jobs and billions and billions of dollars.”
Meanwhile ninety nationals of Somalia and two Kenyans arrived at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport in Kenya, on Wednesday, after being deported from the US.
The deportees were said to have arrived at the airport at midday aboard Omni, an American Charter Airline.
According to Daily Nation, a Kenyan newspaper, sources at the airport were quoted to have said the travellers were accompanied by security officers from the US.
The deportees are the first set of Africans to be affected by the immigration policy of President Donald Trump, who has vowed to crack down on millions of immigrants in the US.
