April 5, (THEWILL)- A 4.8 magnitude earthquake on Friday, rocked Lebanon, New Jersey, a town 50 miles west of New York City, the US Geological Survey (USGS) reported.
The USGS said the quake which centered near Whitehouse Station, New Jersey, was felt in and around New York City and Philadelphia.
Reports of injuries were not immediately clear but New York Governor Kathy Hochul said the quake was felt throughout New York.

“My team is assessing impacts and any damage that may have occurred, and we will update the public throughout the day”, she wrote on social media.
“The shaking felt throughout the community in the past 15 minutes appears to be an earthquake. We have no reports of damage or injuries”, South Brunswick police said in an alert.
