March 31, (THEWILL) – A group under the aegis of Benue Support Initiative (BSI), has called on Minister of State for Education, Dr Chukwuemeka Nwajiuba, to join the 2023 presidential race, in order to continue with the legacies which president Muhammadu Buhari has laid across the country.

The group noted that as someone who is knowledgeable in governance and favoured by zoning, he should not allow the opportunity to waste away, describing Nwajiuba as a hope for the young generation.

In a statement signed by the chairman of the group, Hon Emmanuel Ikyoga, a copy of which was made available in Makurdi, stressed the need for APC to shift political power to the South, particularly to the South East.

“This is because the other geopolitical zones of the south west and south south, have already had their share of the presidency since the return of democracy in 1999.”

“We believe that the power sharing formula should reflect the preamble of our constitution, which enshrined federal character in terms of appointment into positions, in agencies and at all levels to make all parts of the country have a sense of belonging.”

“As believers of the Nigerian cause and the fight for National rebirth, we wish to congratulate President Mohammadu Buhari, the leaders of our great party, the All Progressive Congress (APC) and indeed all members for successful rancour-free convention, which demonstrated the determination, will and the zeal of the progressives to build a Nigeria of our dream.”

The statement also commended President Buhari for cautioning APC leaders against giving the party ticket to the highest bidder.

“It is time for the APC leadership to take the path of morality and justice to elect a south-eastern president in person of Dr Chukwuemeka Nwajiuba, Minister of State for Education. We believe that for justice, fairness, equity and good conscience, we need a detribalised, pragmatic and unifier person who has the intellectual capacity and competence to bridge the gap between the south and north, young and older generation.”

The statement further advised Nigerians not to vote for older generation men or women in 2023 as the country needs a capable young Nigerian which Dr Chukwuemeka Nwajiuba at 55, has the energy required to galvanise through the nooks and crannies of this nation if elected.

“He has a better understanding of the policy direction of the government and will ensure that there is no dislocation in the completion of all ongoing projects initiated by the APC led Buhari administration.”

According to the group, Dr Nwajiuba has the character, the capacity and capability as well as competent to pilot and navigate the country to stability and economic prosperity and should be supported.
