2020 MTV EMA: Burna Boy, Rema Shortlisted For Best African Act

SAN FRANCISCO, October 06, (THEWILL) – Two Nigerian artistes, Burna Boy and Rema, have been shortlisted in the 2020 MTV European Music Award Best African Act category.

Master KG, Kabza de Small and DJ Maphorisa (South Africa), Sheebah (Uganda), and Gaz Mawete (DRC) are the other African artistes included in this category.

Leading the nominations is American singer, Lady Gaga, who has seven nominations. They are: “Best Artist,” “Best Pop,” and “Best Video” for her duet with fellow American singer, Ariana Grande, “Rain On Me,” which also get her included in the “Best Song” and “Best Collaboration” categories.

Asian music group, Bangtan Boys or BTS and Justin Bieber each received five nominations within categories which included “Biggest Fans” and “Best Pop.”

The nominations are three new categories: “Best Latin,” “Video for Good” and “Best Virtual Live.”

The “Best Local Act” category returns with nominations including Lady Gaga, Megan Thee Stallion, and Cardi B for “Best US Act,” Justin Bieber, and The Weekend for “Best Canadian Act” and Dua Lipa for “Best UK & Ireland Act,” and more.

The event will be broadcast globally on MTV in 180 countries on Sunday, November 8, 2020.
