11 Corps Members Earn Accolades As 1,023 Pass Out In Bayelsa

June 14, (THEWILL) – Eleven corps members from the 2023 Batch B stream I service year of the National Youths Service Corps (NYSC) in Bayelsa, on Thursday, earned the State Coordinator’s commendation for excellence as a total of 1,023 corps members passed out.

Another nine corps members were, however, sanctioned by the NYSC for various offences, including absconding from service, while five others had their service year extended and four will be remobilised.

The Bayelsa State Coordinator, Mrs Okpalifo Obiageli Charity, who disclosed this during her farewell remarks at the 2023 Batch B stream I low-key passing out ceremony held at the Military Arcade (Peace Park) in Yenagoa, however, added that one corps member passed on while on active service.

The State Coordinator tasked the passing out corps members to contribute meaningfully to the socio-economic growth of Nigeria.

Okpalifo charged them to always put into good use the skills, knowledge, and experiences gained during the period of the service year, noting that it was time for them to not only be self-reliant but also employers of labour and wished them well in their future endeavours.

The programme was attended by the Executive Assistant to the Bayelsa State Governor on NYSC Matters, NYSC Assistant Directors, Zonal and Local Government Inspectors, and other members of staff of the NYSC Bayelsa State Secretariat.
