July 12, (THEWILL) – The Federation of Tourism Associations of Nigeria, FTAN, has announced plans for its 27th Annual General Meeting, scheduled to be held on the 30th July, 2024 in Abuja.
While briefing Journalists through zoom from Abuja, the Chairman of the Planning Committee, Alhaji Aliyu Badaki, disclosed that the AGM, which is non elective, will focus on the theme: “The role of the private sector in the Development of Tourism in Nigeria.
He explained that the theme was carefully chosen by the members of the committee, based on the happenings in the sector and the Country as a whole.
The Chairman also revealed that the AGM will feature a panel session with the High Commissioner of Botswana to Nigeria, Her Excellency, Philda Nani Kereng, as the Lead Speaker. He expressed confidence that her wealth of experience in tourism will contribute immensely to the renewed hope agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the area of tourism.
Alhaji Badaki said at this critical moment, the AGM will provide another good platform for both the Government and the private sector to deliberate on challenges and what should be done to drive tourism in Nigeria. Adding that the AGM will be very educative.
According to him, with the calibre of panellists invited, he believes that the event will be an unforgettable one.
With the high-powered dignitaries expected to grace the occasion, is already an indication that the industry is moving to a better level of development that will contribute more to the economy of the nation.
He said this is going to be first, after a long while, the industry is going to witness such key players coming together to chart a new course for the sector.
Those expected include The host, Minister of Tourism, Lola Ade-John; Minister of Culture, Hannatu Musa Musawa; Minister of Sports, John Owan Enoh; Director General of NTDA, Otunba Folorunsho Coker; Director General of NIHOTOUR, Alhaji Nura Kangiwa; Director General, SON, Dr Ifeanyi Okeke; ECOWAS Commissioner of Tourism, Members, Board of Trustees, FTAN, and other key Stakeholders.
The AGM will serve as a flagship event for NTIFE, coming up in November 2024.
