Zambia Appoints Ex-Chelsea Boss Grant As Head Coach

December 22, (THEWILL) – The Zambian Football authorities have announced Avram Grant, as the new Head Coach of their national team after the former manager of Chelsea, Portsmouth, and West Ham agreed to a two-year contract with an option for extension.

At a press conference to make the appointment public in Lusaka, Grant said: “I was looking for the right challenge and that’s why I chose Zambia. I came here because of the challenge and I hope when I leave here, I will look around and say we did a good job and made a good foundation for the future. I think Zambia has the potential; we have set the targets of what we want to achieve.”

The most significant accomplishment of Grant’s career in England was guiding Chelsea to the 2008 Champions League final, where they fell to Manchester United on penalties.
