November 29, (THEWILL) – Tiger Woods declared on Monday that he will not be taking part in the Hero World Challenge, an annual fundraiser for his humanitarian organisation due to a foot injury.

He posted: “In my preparation and practice for this week’s Hero World Challenge, I’ve developed plantar fasciitis in my right foot, which is making it difficult to walk. After consulting with my doctors and trainers, I have decided to withdraw this week and focus on my hosting duties. My plan is still to compete in The Match and PNC Championship.”

Woods was due to feature in the Hero World Challenge, which begins Thursday in Albany, Bahamas, for the first time since the Open Championship in July. Over the course of his illustrious career, the 46-year-old has struggled with a number of injuries that have slowly reduced his availability on the PGA Tour.

There were new doubts about whether he would ever play competitive golf again after his automobile accident in February 2021. At the 2022 Masters, Woods made a comeback. He started the tournament with a one-under 71 before stumbling and finishing 47th at 13 over. In May, he signed up for the PGA Championship, but he pulled out after the third round. His missed cut at St. Andrews followed.

The 15-time major champion is still the most well-liked golfer in the world despite all of these. He topped the scoreboard for the PGA Tour’s Player Impact Program, which broadly recognises the celebrities who draw the most interest to the tour, for the second year running.
