August 15, (THEWILL) – Afrobeat musician, Seun Anikulapo-Kuti has said that if Nigerians must take over power from corrupt leaders in 2023, they have to unite and work from the grassroots level.
He made this known in a video shot in Pidgin English, which was posted on social media.
According to him, even if Nigerians elect a good president, he cannot do much if those in power at the grassroots level are from the two major parties: the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the People’=s Democratic Party (PDP).
He said the reason why most members of the two parties are not making noise is because they have their people at the grassroots level running the affairs of government. And they are not ready to allow any other party take over from them.
He noted that the people must be ready to unite and work with a common purpose because it is the only way that ordinary Nigerians can have a country of their dreams.
“Nobody knows the President, I tell una. Nobody know Buhari. People wey know am for Nigeria no reach 500.
“You see all those celebrites, all those journalists, all the people wey dey lie for una. Na senators, governors, Assembly men all of them know. Dem dey distract you. Na dem dey drop their bars.
“Over 700 senators and Assembly men are still under PDP and APC and you think your President can do something wey PDP and APC still dey run things?
“That is why dey no dey talk anything. That is the fact. Their men dey run those places and dey don’t want make una get mouth there. That is the fact.
“I go continue to tell una how e dey go, if you no hear na you know. WE MUST ORGANISE TO TAKE POWER. I am not interested in giving anyone power. All power to the people. Until you are ready for this work, it will not work.
“As I said, this is just how we like to do,” he said in Pidgin English.
