Donating the materials, the PDP guber hopeful, Engr. Uba, regretted the unprovoked attack on Turan, Ikyurav-ya and other communities by Fulani herdsmen and described it as devastating and in human.

According to him, he was pained by the sustained attack on Benue communities by herdsmen, whose sole aim and target was to kill, displace the people and take over their lands including the mineral resources found in those places.

He commended Governor Samuel Ortom for the anti-open grazing law, which he described as one of the important legacies of the administration, which must be sustained for the benefit of Benue people.

Uba, who is the Speaker of Benue State House of assembly, maintained that the PDP administration in the state was committed to ensuring the safety of the people and would do everything at its disposal to stop the killings and enjoined the people to vote for somebody who has been part of the process and understands the dynamics of the attacks.

The Speaker of the 9th Assembly posited that his empathy for the displaced persons informed his decision to identify with them at this point in time and called on them not to pitch tent with those who have proven to have taken sides with the enemy against their people.

In his remarks, the Chairman of Kwande Local Government Council, Hon. Orjiir Gbande, expressed regrets over the killings in Kwande by Fulani herdsmen and called for collective action.

He noted that the attack on the people of Kwande was not just about the people but complete take over of ancestral lands and their mineral resources and called on them to vote for Engr. Uba who is better placed to address the situation if given the mandate.

On her part, the Chairman of Benue State Internal Revenue Service (BIRS), Mrs Mimi Orubibi Azape and Member representing Kwande-East State Constituency at the State Assembly, Engr. Tertsea Gbiseh lamented the massacre of over a hundred people in rural communities of Turan and Ikyurav-ya respectively, adding that it was a solemn moment that calls for collective efforts.

They said there was need for the people to vote the calibre of people who would stop the killings and respond promptly to their distress calls, pointing out that the PDP governorship candidate, Engr. Titus Uba, who was also instrumental to the passage of the anti-open grazing law was the right candidate for the office of governor and was better placed to stop the menace if voted into office.

Engr. Titus Uba and his entourage also paid condolence visit to the family of Chief Iorkumba Nyaga in their country home, Achia-Ikyurav-ya also in Kwande local government area.

Meanwhile, the leadership of Young Progressives Party in Benue state have endorsed the candidature of Titus Uba of the Peoples Democratic Party for March 18 Governorship and State Houses of Assembly election.

The State chairman of the party, Dr Gwadue Hough, after a stakeholders meeting in Makurdi, said YPP is sure of securing 100,000 votes at the polls which will not take the party anywhere.

According to him, YPP leadership in Benue state decided to pitch tent with the candidate of the PDP, Titus Uba and would work for him to emerge victorious at the polls; saying Uba has the capacity to effectively administer Benue State if voted into power.
