SAN FRANCISCO, July 11, (THEWILL) – The Presidency has revealed that security agents are checking the accuracy of reports claiming that there were fresh killings of 81 people by suspected Fulani herdsmen in some communities in Benue State.
This was revealed via a series of tweets through the verified Twitter handle of its Digital Communications Office, @DigiCommsNG.
The presidency called on Nigerians to be wise as many of the photos being circulated about the alleged fresh massacre were not from Benue State.
“Law enforcement agents are working to ascertain the accuracy of reports of fresh killings in Benue,” it tweeted.
“The @PoliceNG will issue a statement.”
Reacting to the photo of a butchered pregnant woman, which went viral on social media, the Presidency warned: “Please note: many of the Photos being circulated are not from Benue. This for e.g., is from Congo (2014).
“Photos are being fact-checked, Viewer discretion advised. Thank you.”
