November 29, (THEWILL) – Police in Ogun state on Monday arrested a notorious member of the Eiye confraternity, Esuruoso Tunde, for allegedly attacking lodgers at LADIS Hotel.

His arrest followed a distress call received by the policemen attached to Obantoko divisional headquarters from the hotel.

The Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Abimbola Oyeyemi, confirmed this to newsmen in a statement in Abeokuta on Monday.

Oyeyemi said upon the distress call, the Obantoko DPO, SP Ignatius Alimiekena, quickly mobilized his patrol team and moved to the scene.

“The hotel premises was there and then cordoned off by the policemen, making it difficult for the hoodlums who have mingled with the customers to get out of the premises.

“Search was properly conducted on everybody in the premises and a locally fabricated double barrel short gun with one expended cartridge was found on Esuruoso Tunde.

“On interrogation, the suspect confessed been a member of Eye confraternity, and that the gun was handed over to him by one of his colleagues simply known as ‘Scatter’,” he added.

Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police, CP Lanre Bankole, has ordered the immediate transfer of the suspect to the anti-cultism section of the state criminal investigation and intelligence department for discreet investigation.

The CP also directed that the suspect’s accomplices must be hunted down and brought to justice.

He went on to warn hoteliers to be wary of the guests they take in and ensure they are not harbouring criminals.
