March 15, (THEWILL) – Gift Orban continues to amaze as he scored his second successive hat-trick in KAA Gent’s 4-1 victory over İstanbul Başakşehir, helping the team to secure a spot in the Europa Conference League quarter-finals.
Orban, who scored four goals over the weekend against Zulte Waregem, opened the scoring in the 31st minute, before unleashing a powerful shot in the top corner for his second goal a minute later. The Nigerian wonderkid completed his hat-trick in the 34th minute for the fastest hat trick ever in Europe.
The win over Başakşehir marks Orban’s twelfth goal in nine official appearances for Gent since his arrival, and he shows no signs of slowing down. The young striker has been a sensation for the Belgian side, proving himself as one of the best young talents in the Europa Conference League this season.
The five goals under his belt so far means Orban is only one goal away from Fiorentina’s Luka Jović, who is the leading scorer in the competition with six goals. With the 20-year-old leading the line, Gent fans have high hopes of a successful Europa Conference League campaign.
However, his form will undoubtedly put the rest of the teams on notice as he has proven to be a game-changer for the Belgian club.
