SAN FRANCISCO, 06, (THEWILL) – The Faculty of Science, University of Lagos, in collaboration with the Science Ambassadors Foundation, SAF, has announced that it will be organizing a science awareness training for 5000 female students in Lagos, Nigeria.
The event, which will again place Nigeria on the world map, holds on Thursday, June 15th 2017 at 10:00am Prompt in the Multipurpose Halls, University of Lagos, Akoka.
The event, with the theme: Developing STEMpreneurs for bridging the gap between town and gown in an emerging economy, is poised to breed more STEM laurels for Nigeria.
The faculty expects the First Lady of Ogun State, Dr. Mrs. Olufunso Amosun to declare the event opened alongside the host scientist, Mrs. Bolanle Ambode, First Lady of Lagos State, and other dignitaries.
In his speech, Prof A. A. Adekunle, the Dean, Faculty of Science, University of Lagos said “We will also provide career advice and discuss the numerous opportunities being a scientist offers beyond the popular applied sciences such as Medicine or Engineering.”
The Country Director, SAF, Mrs. C. P. Nnabugwu said “We are hoping to provide a right orientation for sciences and show the real deal about science and its applications in the industry.
“We expect this event to be a catalyst that will forever remain in the minds of the participants, proving that Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics are the unifying factor for our national development.
“We will be working with Tri-continental Limited, whose Group MD/CEO, Prof. Toyin Ashiru is excited to share life success and the process a Scientist requires to excel in entrepreneurship with the young stars.
“With this we hope to make science a beautiful subject to our youths in order to churn out more scientists especially ladies from Nigeria and enhance the road map to our industrialization.
“The event will feature live experiment using Dalic Technology, a process used by Tri-Continental Ltd amongst others.”
