October 21, (THEWILL) – Nottingham Forest were denied a much-needed victory as Luton Town staged a stunning late comeback to draw 2-2 at the City Ground. Chris Wood looked to have won it for the home side after his second-half double, but the Hatters showed resilience to claw their way back from two goals down.

Earlier in the game, Wood had gone close on several occasions, while at the other end, Jacob Brown spurned a great chance for the away side. Forest dominated the opening stages, with Ibrahim Sangare heading over and Wood drawing a save. But Luton grew into the game, with Carlton Morris firing wide before Brown’s glaring miss when clean through.

Wood capitalised on an Anthony Elanga through ball to lash home the opener just after the break. He then rose highest to power home a header from Serge Aurier’s pinpoint cross to double Forest’s advantage. However, Luton refused to give up. Chiedozie Ogbene volleyed home to reduce the deficit before Elijah Adebayo chested down and rifled in a dramatic equaliser deep into stoppage time.

Wood was clinical with the two chances that came his way but will be disappointed not to have grabbed a hat-trick. Luton thought they had a penalty after a challenge on Morris, but VAR ruled it out before Ogbene fired them back into it. Adebayo then struck the hammer blow to stun Forest.

In an entertaining encounter with multiple chances at both ends, Luton showed fighting spirit to battle back and claim what could be a crucial point. Forest will rue defensive lapses and their inability to hold onto a two-goal lead.
