La Liga Accuses EPL Of Cheating Transfer Market After Record January Window

February 01,(THEWILL) – La Liga has accused the English Premier League of cheating the transfer market after its record-breaking £815m January window.

The English top-flight spent more than the rest of Europe’s top five leagues combined during the month, with Chelsea leading the way with a spending of £291.7m. These high numbers have caused a stir in Europe, with Real Madrid’s Carlo Ancelotti acknowledging that the EPL is leading in the transfer market.

However, LaLiga’s Corporate General Director, Javier Gomez and President, Javier Tebas, claim that the English top-flight is cheating the transfer system. According to them, the Premier League is “doping” the clubs by injecting money that is not generated by the club itself, putting its viability at risk if big shareholders leave.

They believe this is cheating and is putting a drag on the rest of the leagues. As a result, La Liga is now demanding that UEFA implements new economic regulations to prevent shareholders from putting in more than a certain amount. They also want the rule to be enforced and non-compliant clubs to be sanctioned.

Chelsea’s purchase of Argentina’s World Cup winner, Enzo Fernandez for £105m from Benfica, shattered the British transfer record and was the flagship move for the club during the January window.
