June 04, (THEWILL) – Juventus missed out on the opportunity to finish sixth in the Serie A, despite securing a 1-0 victory over Udinese at Dacia Arena with Federico Chiesa’s decisive strike.

Massimiliano Allegri’s side, who faced a rollercoaster campaign, were deducted 10 points due to financial rule violations, resulting in their lowest league finish in 12 years. Their hopes of surpassing Roma for the sixth spot were dashed when Paulo Dybala’s late penalty secured a 2-1 win for the Giallorossi against Spezia. While Udinese suffered their 10th defeat in 12 encounters with Juventus, they managed to secure a 12th-place finish in Serie A.

Beto had an early chance for Udinese in the fourth minute but inexplicably headed Florian Thauvin’s cross over from close range. Chiesa’s effort, deflected off the side-netting, hinted at Juventus’ attacking threat, while Leonardo Bonucci’s header against the crossbar showcased their missed opportunities.

Chiesa continued to trouble Udinese from the left flank, but both teams failed to find the back of the net in the first half. In the 68th minute, Juventus finally broke the deadlock when Chiesa received a pass from Manuel Locatelli and curled a superb shot into the bottom-right corner.

Although the single goal was sufficient for victory, former Juventus forward Dybala’s late heroics secured sixth place for Roma, leaving Allegri’s team to settle for seventh.
