December 05, (THEWILL) – Benue state Commissioner for Housing and Urban Development, Ekpe Ogbu, has been abducted by gunmen.
Ogbu, a former Chairman of Ado Local Government area, in Benue south senatorial district, was intercepted at Adankari Junction, along the Otukpo-Ado road, at about 9 pm on Sunday
Three other persons were said to be in the commissioner’s car, but it is unconfirmed if they were also kidnapped.
The Special Adviser to Governor Samuel Ortom on Security Matters, Lt. Col. Paul Hemba (rtd), said a manhunt has been launched to rescue him and arrest the abductors.
THEWILL gathered that the Hilux van he was travelling in has been recovered by the police in Otukpo.
Spokesperson of the State Police Command, Anene Sewuese, who confirmed the incident, said officers have been dispatched to the area and that updates on the incident will be made public.
As at the time of filing this report, no contact has been established with the abductors yet.
